About me
I started running in spring 2011 with the popular Couch 2 5k program and the rest is history. Just kidding. You aren't getting off that easily.
Until I downloaded that app on my phone, I had no idea what else this crazy life held for me. I made it through the program; sometimes repeating workouts or entire weeks until I felt compelled to move on to the next one.
Shortly after I was to the point where I could run a 5k without stopping, we moved to a new town. Through running, I was able to explore and learn about our new (and current) town in a way I never would have otherwise. I found a marked path through town that I could run to from our house that measured 5k. It was perfection.
The next spring, I actually ran a timed 5k and then that fall I ran two more. The transformation that running has provided me was definitely not just physical. While I was never overweight, running has definitely made more fit than ever, but that's not what keeps me coming back (ok, maybe some days it is.. ahem.. pizza.) Running keeps my emotions in check (mostly) and the people... the people I have met are so incredible.
Running has given me this incredible second family of support, love and encouragement. I never thought I would feel the way I do about people I sometimes don't even know. It really is the weirdest thing, but I wouldn't trade a single moment.
