Glowin' for it

Image
Ok ok, scrape off the cheese and move forward. I just had to. Rock n Glow So I am pretty excited that this race is finally here. A little nervous because I really have no idea what to expect, but pulling up this flyer just makes me smile. Usually, you sign up for a race, show up and run. This one is GLOW!! I am so tempted to go somewhere tonight or tomorrow and buy glow in the dark nail polish. I totally used to have some and thought it was the coolest this ever. via Like seriously, awesome. Right? Anyone else ever do glow runs, how did you dress/ paint yourself? :) Watch out for a recap Monday... I will busy Sunday am doing a sweaty 10+ miles with my pal.

Inspiration Thursday

How is it that this post seems to come around so quickly from week to week? As for me, it has been a little bit of an "off" week for me. This is for 2 reasons. 1) After we came back from my sisters, allergies were killing me a little and, just in case it was a touch of a cold or something else, I didn't want to push myself and get REALLY sick.... because 2) I have a glow run 5k on Saturday night. I really don't want to be miserable for it so I am just taking it easy-peasy. I did those few short runs over the weekend and did 2 miles today. Depending on how I feel in the morning, I might do a short (early) run because it is to be hot as heck! I also have a run-date with a good friend (who I don't see nearly enough) in York for a 10-12 miles stint Sunday morning which I am UBER looking forward to. Anyway, who is ready for some awesome picture/quote inspiration? ME!! via (haha yep, mine would say TT for tiny thunder. booya) via #IWILL  v

My new running partner!

Image
So over the weekend we visited my sister and clan. My parents were up too so it was a full house. My oldest nephew turned 6 on the 22nd, followed by my dad on the 25th, followed by my parents anniversary on the 26th and of course Memorial day on Monday. So who is my new running partner?? Well certainly not my dad. I went for a 2 miler (which feels like about 5 in their town) on Sunday morning. Sunday evening my mom had mentioned going for a walk and my 6 year old nephew pretty quickly replied that maybe we could go for a run. So we did run block by block, pausing to wait for my parents and his next youngest brother. He did really well and even made a weird comment about how he had to pee and while he was running it was ok, but when he stopped, he could feel it go up into his belly. Kids say the silliest things. This is actually him in action playing tag with friends at his birthday party on Saturday, but running nonetheless. Monday after we had a late breakfast and ran som

Inspiration Thursday!

Since I have busy (and therefore exhausted) I have to look at great quotes on Pinterest and Facebook pages to keep me going and remind me to not let life slow my workout life down. via via via via via (love this one!!!) via (hahah!!! true story!) Well I hope, as always, that these give you that little Thursday kick in the pants you need :) As for me, tonight is the ever wonderful Treadmill Thursday after work. This is week 3 and they are becoming beloved evenings in my life!

Smooth moves

So Wednesday morning I had a lot of trouble getting awake (shocker!). This wasn't a huge shock to me considering the hard workouts I had done Tuesday. To top it off, I gave blood at work through the  Central PA Blood Bank . So Tuesday night I hate a good meal and drank fluids, blah blah blah, all the good stuff they tell you to. Well, apparently this was no where near enough because I seriously thought I might die during Wednesday's attempted AM run. I ran a million  one mile and stopped to walk, and felt my heartbeat LITERALLY beating in my throat. So I walked until it stopped. Then I ran again, and walked, and ran again. I ended up running about 1.6 miles of what felt like absolute death and torture. I don't think I have ever felt so wacky in my running life- not even when I was first learning to run.  I really felt like I was running in the middle of the sahara. via I mean, I know I need to readjust my running and re-adapt to the heat (weren't we j

Maniac Monday

I am very happy to report that even though I couldn't drag  get myself out of bed this morning much before I had just enough time to get ready, I still accomplished all the FIT things I needed to squeeze into my day. You see, thanks to me thinking I am superwoman and can constantly run full force and that my past month of weekends has looked like this: babysit Saturday at 7am through Sunday 3pm, work 7-3 Saturday and Sunday,  work 7-3 Saturday and Sunday, babysit from 7am Saturday through Sunday 7pm, I am pretty exhausted!! Even my 2 days off after working the weekends were packed and although I think I slept in a little at some point, this is all catching up to me. It has gotten increasingly hard to get out of bed each day. If you know me, or even a little, you know this is not my personality at all really and that ALL winter I stuck to my training plan pretty well even in the COLD, SNOWY, WINDY weather. Well, ok enough of that and on to my "YAY ME!" moment. I fe

What a week!

It seems that quite a few other bloggers out there have hit the same exact issue I have been lately.  As a full time, non traditional hours, working lady, time is rarely on  my side I work, workout, do a thing or two around the house (sometimes), cook some dinner, and that is about the extent of that. I wish I was still able to blog during downtime at work but this is no longer an option so I literally squeeze it in when I can, which, quite frankly, isn't always enough for me. I wish I had the time to write about what I do each day and share with you what good things I eat, but there is just not always that time. That being said, I will share with you the highlights of this week I was off work Monday and Tuesday with having worked the weekend (which sadly meant no running by the way- unless you count attempting to "run" back from the pizza shop Saturday evening with a 2 and 5 year old on either hand). So knowing that I would be working Mother's day, I had already ar

Signed up for another one!

Image
Happy weekend everyone :) No morning run for me today because I am at work, but I did sign up for one I have been thinking about.  Active Advantage emailed me the other day with an offer of $10 back on any race I chose to sign up for while still on my trial membership. What better excuse than that to sign up NOW? Yep, another run in Hershey and this one is 6 miles and includes a treat at each mile. I am not sure how into this I will be in the heat of August, but it will be a good run anyway as I train for the  Hershey Half  that is in October and my first half ever. Plus, I have an old coworker (soon to be a coworker again come Monday) who has said she will run this with me. With or without a running mate, I think this will be a fun race- and at $20 with the money back I couldn't pass it up! That's less than most 5ks.  Anyone else sign up for a cool race recently?

Yep, killed it.

What exactly, you might ask? Treadmill Thursday... Even though I had been determined to get up out of bed and get a nice, 5 to 6 miler in. However, they were calling for weird weather and when I did get up and ready, I looked out the window and dag nab it, it was raining!! And it wasn't that nice spring drizzly weather, it was gross. So I packed a gym bag for after work and took my butt right back to bed. When I got up to go to work all I saw/heard on facebook/tv/radio was about a fire on/near roads I take to get to work. (more  here ) Out of panic that I would not get to work on time because of road closures, I got dressed quickly and headed out the door. The entire rest of the day was so off kilter that I could not wait for 7:30p to hit so I could bust out the gym clothes and head to the basement of my work building to work up a sweat on the treadmill. I always scare myself when I am excited for treadmill work.. I really cannot complain. The workout was amazing. It went

Inspirational Thursday!

Image
I don't know about anyone else, but I could sure use some fitness- related inspiration this week. Between sleep deprivation, a tired body, and some gloomy/rainy days it is enough to throw me right off track. Time to get it back, and get at it for the end of the week and prepare for another working weekend. (source) If you wake up determined to workout, eat well, work towards achieving your goals- you will go to bed with satisfaction instead of regret or guilt that you didn't :) (source) This reminds me of pushing yourself to your limit- then push even further. Challenge yourself. Challenge your negative thinking and self doubt. You got this!! (source) Love this.  (source) No arguments here!! (source) Dare to begin- go even further and continue to your goals. (source) Make you goals, and SMASH THEM! That's all for this week fitness friends. I am ready to wake up tomorrow with no excuses and kick some BUTT... how about you??

What a whirlwind

First, my apologies for disappearing! I worked all weekend and Saturday evening we went to my parents for dinner. The expectatiosn were as follows: dinner, mom and I would take a walk while hubby worked on internet service related things for mom and we would head home at a decent hour. We certainly ate a delicious dinner and we got our walk in. Hubbys portion was a huge fail.. not due to his inadequacies, but the internet provider. Needless to say lots of hours were wasted and meant we didnt get home til after midnight. Couple this with needing to wake at 6am, equals a looong day. We did get a nice afternoon of some riding time on the motorcycle but no workouts for me other than the may squat challenge. Monday I played catch up on  Fitness Diva s May challenge from Saturday and did Monday's as well. I also did the squat challenge and added weights where I could. I did some of the squats as squat jumps which is always interesting. So back to my walk with Mom Saturday. It was a v

Some Thursday Inspiration

Image
It totally slipped my mind that I should have gotten this together LAST night instead of tonight. I am working all weekend, so for me this just didn't really feel much like Thursday. Anyway on with the inspiration :) ( source ) loving on this. ignore the haters :P ( source ) we chose who to listen to. ( source ) so simple yet so powerful. ( source ) yep, rock it! ( source ) fitness, food, friends: be proud of the choices you make. Hope you all had a great Thursday!! I hope to get my review posts together for Monday/Tuesday. Like I said, working all weekend so I won't have much time for much else, but I will do my best :) Have a great weekend!

Kind of a big deal

Image
.. at least to me anyway. I really wanted to post this literally the minute I registered, because I was so excited. But it was just too busy to even think about it. But seriously. My first half ever and I couldn't be more happy, nervous, or crazy excited at the same time. Still cannot wrap my head around how I made it to this point of being able to run that far. Never. Ever. In. My. Life.  More on this later, for now its probably about bed time.
